Harvey’s hearty hamburgers

Handy hint and tips: ensure the ingredients are cool before you add them to the mixture to prevent you from burning your fingers


Ingredients

  • 1 Pound
    Lean mince ( Turkey or Beef )
  • 2
    Red Onions
  • 4
    Cloves of Garlic
  • Fresh Ginger
  • Paprika
  • Black Pepper
  • Mixed herbs
  • 2
    Eggs
  • 1 Cup
    Flour
  • 2
    Large Sweet Potatoes
  • Extra Virgin Olive Oil
  • Cheddar Cheese
  • 4
    Wholemeal Buns

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 230°C/350°F/Gas Mark 4

  2. Wash and dry hands thoroughly

  3. Wash sweet potatoes and cut into wedges

  4. Place in oven on a baking tray to cook for 20-30 minutes

  5. Peel and chop onions, garlic and ginger

  6. Fry the onions, garlic, and ginger in a pan with a little water adding a little paprika and black pepper. Fry until soft and leave to cool.

  7. Place above ingredients into a large bowl and add the mince

  8. Mix all of the ingredients together and add in some mixed herbs

  9. Take a handful of the mixture and mould into burger shapes and place on tray

  10. Whisk two eggs in a bowl

  11. Sprinkle some flour onto a clean chopping board

  12. Dip each burger into the egg and place the burger onto the chopping board and cover in a light layer of flour

  13. Place burgers into a frying pan with a little spray of extra virgin olive oil

  14. Fry for approximately 1 minute each side and then place the burgers on an oven tray and place in oven for approximately 10-12 minutes.

  15. Once burgers and wedges are cooked remove from oven and add cheese, salad etc as required.
